Open College Network (OCN) Credit4Learning Accreditation for Parents Levels 1 and 2
OCN Credit4Learning is a national network of members and users that offers a high quality national accreditation service for all types of learning and learners.
Parents or carers attending the 10 week Nurturing Programme can choose to take 6 credits that lead to Credit4Learning Accreditation at Level 1 or Level 2 involving
- 20 hours group work (2 hours per week for 10 weeks)
- 20 hours practising the strategies at home with the family
- 20 hours completing a portfolio
Parent Group Leaders wishing to offer accreditation to parents need to
- be a trained and recognised Family Links Parent Group Leader
- have facilitated at least 3 parent groups
If you meet these criteria you can then complete one of the following training options
- either attend a 1-day accreditation training course. Prior to the course you must complete and return your own parent accreditation booklet. Please allow appoximately 2 hours for this pre-learning stage
- or complete the 6-8 week OCN distance learning tutor training model. This consists of 2 hours pre-course work and approximately 7 hours telephone instruction, guidance and support
In Wales accreditation for parents is provided by the charitable trust and awarding organisation Agored Cymru.
Contact Sandra McAlpin via email or by telephone on 01482 504330 to register your interest in OCN accreditation.
