Open College Network (OCN) Accreditation

The 10-week Nurturing Programme parent course is now accredited at Levels 1 and 2 by the Open College Network.  Parents can achieve six credits at either level, representing 60 hours of work.  This is divided into:

• 20 hours of group work (2 hours per week for 10 weeks)
• 20 hours of practicing the strategies at home with the family
• 20 hours of completing the portfolio.

Parent group leaders who wish to take parents through the accreditation process need to receive one additional day of training to equip them as a tutor.  If you would like to offer accreditation to parents you must:

1. Be a trained and recognised Family Links parent group leader
2. Have facilitated at least 3 parent groups
3. Complete the parent accreditation booklet prior to training.
