Training
Family Links trains parenting support workers and school staff in the Nurturing Programme. It provides simple, effective tools to help parents and children understand and manage feelings and behaviour, which enhance learning, life skills and opportunities. The Nurturing Programme
- promotes emotional health and well-being
- enhances self-esteem, self-awareness and empathy
- develops communication and relationship skills
- provides strategies to encourage cooperative, responsible behaviour and manage challenging behaviour
- allows time for personal and professional reflection
Family Links training programmes are promoted by government organisations and included in Sure Start Children’s Centre practice guidance. OCN-accreditation at Levels 1 and 2 for parents is available.

Working with parents
Training in the Nurturing Programme enhances practitioners’ skills, techniques and confidence when working with parents in groups or one-to-one.
Parent Group Leader Training
Parent Group Leader Training – for those wanting to facilitate parent groups.
To remain licensed to practise, Parent Group Leaders are required to do an annual refresher day. After running 3 courses, they are also eligible for additional training days
