Follow-up support

Family Links offers a range of support options for your school after the initial training. Your Area Co-ordinator will be your first point of contact to discuss which of these options are available in your area. Your Link Teacher will also receive a termly newsletter from Family Links to keep you up to date with our work, our latest support options and what's going on in other Family Links trained schools.

STAFF SUPPORT
A one-hour staff meeting to review the progress of the Nurturing Programme in school.

INDIVIDUAL STAFF SUPPORT
Demonstrations of Circle Time… the Nurturing Programme way are available as part of the personal and professional development of staff who have already been trained in the Nurturing Programme.

LUNCHTIME SUPERVISOR TRAINING
Two 2-hour workshops to encourage lunchtime supervisors to adopt Nurturing Programme strategies and language in the playground and the dinner hall.

INDUCTION TRAINING
The full 2-day training for headteachers, teachers, teaching assistants and regular supply teachers who have joined their school since the original training was held.

REFRESHER TRAINING
A 1-day training to revisit the principles of the Nurturing Programme and to refine its practice.

LINK TEACHER BOOSTER DAY
An annual get-together for Link Teachers to pool ideas on behalf of their schools and to take back a renewed commitment to the nurturing ethos.Opportunities to access the above training will vary according to your locality.

PARENT GROUPS
Family Links can train two members of your staff (e.g. school nurses, TAs, behaviour support staff) to become Parent Group Leaders and run the 10-week long groups in your school.  The four-day training offers:

  • a thorough introduction to the Nurturing Programme and how to use it to support parents and carers
  • guidance on how to work most effectively in groups and in one-to-one situations
  • all Programme resources: handbooks for facilitators, The Parenting Puzzle book for parents and games for families.
